HOPE TO COPE 🦋
GOD IS WORKING
By: Donna Lind
But Jesus replied, “My Father is always working, and so am I.”
Earlier this spring a pair of little House Finches were flitting around my front porch.
Back at forth, they darted through the yard pausing on tree branches and fence posts.
Their pretty rose-colored feathers stood out brightly against the blue sky and green grass.
I was doing some spring cleaning, dusting off my hanging faux fern plants, (hey don’t judge me, I have a brown thumb these days:)
As I was dusting the plant right outside my front door, I saw something hidden under the leaves.
To my delight it was the tiniest baby birdies!
Bald wrinkled pink skin, covered with tufts of fuzzy down feathers, bulging black eyes and cute little yellow beaks.
I couldn’t tell if it was two or three babies, because they were sitting on top of each other, smooshed together like a can of cling peaches.
Mama Bird and Daddy Bird started chirping and squawking at me, so I backed off.
I watched them through the window for weeks afterward.
Fresh worms and bugs were delivered everyday by Mama and Daddy to feed their babies.
The day finally came when they outgrew the nest and flying lessons began.
And then, just as quickly as spring came, they flew away and were gone.
I left the basket up for a week or so, but I only saw Mama bird occasionally fly by, so I decided to take the basket down and clean it.
To my surprise there was still one tiny blue egg hidden in the bottom of the nest!
How does that even happen after she just had a brood weeks before?
I took some photos and put the basket back up.
I did not see Mama bird for a good week.
I prayed asking God to take care of the baby bird and please bring Mama back.
(Yes, I pray for birds and all other living creatures. Well not all, not mice, snakes, or skunks!) LoL! :)
I kept watching and praying, I feared the worst. I was not sure the baby in that abandoned egg would survive.
Even though I didn’t see her, she must have been there hiding somewhere all along.
One day while I was sweeping the porch, out of nowhere, Mama flew right by my face and landed on her nest!
“Hooray, thank you Jesus,” I shouted to Heaven.
Mama sat on that egg.
She sat and she sat.
I don’t know how long she sat, but it seemed like weeks.
I just kept praying and believing God would show up and breathe life on that little egg.
Even if it looked like the baby bird inside wasn't alive.
I didn’t dare peek into the nest, until, last night.
Mama left the nest for a bit, and I just couldn’t help myself.
And there it was, right before my eyes stretching its scrawny little neck and wobbly looking “ET” head over the edge of the basket, was a newborn baby finch!
Hallelujah! God, you did it again!
GOD IS FAITHFUL.
EVEN WHEN WE DON’T SEE IT, HE’S WORKING!
When it seems like an impossible situation, GOD IS WORKING!
He is behind the scenes, working things out for our good.
God reminded me that His eye is on the sparrow (and the finch:) and He is watching over you and me!
Just like inside the little egg hidden under the fern leaves, God is working when we don’t see Him.
He is breathing life into things that appear dead and hopeless to us.
He is your renewing your heart, restoring your family and relationships. God is working to bring home your prodigal children.
He is breaking off addictions and afflictions, healing hearts, minds, and bodies.
He is resurrecting your forgotten dreams and creating new dreams.
Dear friends, open your eyes and look around for GOD’S BLESSINGS!
DON’T GIVE UP. HOLD ON TO HOPE.
GOD CHANGES CATERPILLARS INTO BUTTERFLIES, SAND INTO PEARLS, COAL INTO DIAMONDS AND EGGS INTO BIRDS. HE USES TIME AND PRESSURE. HE IS WORKING ON YOU TOO.
NO MATTER WHAT YOUR SITUATION LOOKS LIKE,
GOD IS WORKING!
With JESUS there is always HOPE TO COPE,
Donna Lind ❤️
